a2 Milk™ Custard

Perfect on crumbles, pies and cakes; no dessert is complete without a splash of custard.

In four simple steps you can enjoy creamy rich homemade a2 Milk™ custard and we’re certain you’ll love the difference!

Instead of using a vanilla pod, a delicious tip is to stir in 1tsp of vanilla extract once the custard has thickened and before it cools.


  • 600ml Whole a2 Milk™
  • 1 vanilla pod (or extract)
  • 3 free-range eggs, yolks only
  • 25g caster sugar
  • 2 tsp cornflour


  • Slowly heat the the a2 Milk™ and vanilla pod to the point of simmering.
  • Whilst the milk is heating up mix the egg yolks, cornflour and sugar together to form a paste.
  • Next remove the vanilla pod, pour the a2 Milk™ into the paste and stir well.
  • Strain the mixture back into a clean saucepan and whilst stirring constantly cook gently until the custard thickens.
