Banana Oatmeal - a2 Milk™

Banana Oatmeal

This sticky date and banana overnight oatmeal can be gently cooked in the slow cooker inside its jar. That way the perfect breakfast is ready when you are in the morning to just grab and go! It’s such a delicious alternative to the standard breakfast options that we fell in love with this recipe the minute we saw it. The sticky dates make it sweet and flavoursome and the banana adds some lovely texture and gives you the energy you need to get through the morning.

It is also just as easy to make in a pan on the hob in the morning if you prefer.

  • 2/3 cup Mornflake Superfast Oats I use a mix of pinhead and rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup a2 Milk™
  • 6 dried dates – stones removed and finely chopped
  • ½ banana – lightly mashed
  • 1 tbs pecans – lightly toasted
  • Seeds to serve


  • Add 1/3 cup oats and 1/3 cup of a2 Milk™ to each jar, stir in the dates (reserving a few to garnish), and divide the banana between each jar.  Top up with about ½ cup of water, and stir well.
  • Cook overnight for about 10 hours in the slow cooker or crockpot set to low. Make sure that the lids of the jars are above the water level in the pot.
  • Serve garnished with a few slices of banana, toasted pecans, and a few chopped dates.


To make this in a pan on the hob you will get a better result if you soak the dates overnight in the milk to soften them.
